so BYU loses their best defender on a clean shoulder hit because the receiver ducks.
So fucking stupid

The defender is responsible for avoiding the head.

It's a bad hit that was correctly called as targeting
I knew you would take this stance. Fuck off, he turned his back and hit him with his shoulder. It's on the QB for throwing a hospital pass and the WR for lowering his head

Those things are also true, but the defender has to just make a tackle there instead of going for a big hit.

The game has changed.

That wasn't targeting. Also nice INT.
the 2nd one was targeting. the first one was absolute horseshit

Shoulder to the head is targeting.

Read the rule:http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2016/9/7/12829482/targeting-penalty-rulebook-ncaa-football

Doesn't mean its not bullshit that should be changed

If it ever changes again, it will become tougher against the defense.

The NCAA has to keep moving forward on player safety.

I agree that is the case. They might even end up not allowing offensive players to lower their heads.

I would actually support that rule change in the memory of Curtis Williams
