The defense scored 12 of those points while spending and the kicker had 5 = 17

I don't think you can dock them for losing week 1 at tOSU. It was a close game that they actually controlled outside of turnovers. If you get in the CFP as #12 with losses to #1 and #4 in the country I can think of worse resumes to have. The Florida game is what would cost them.
