Have to admit I felt a little badly for Ute, even though the most obnoxious fan of another program in my great social circle is one of those housewives who likes to put on that she knows a lot about football and talks trash and is basically like krisvashon stupid. She's a Ute.

They fucking came to play and wanted it and I can respect that. And for the most part they played very well. They just had no answer for Stroud and Njigba, and OSU was bound to make a defensive play eventually. Like someone up the thread said, this is an example of stars. You have a team missing more than a handful of its key players and that's still thinking about the Michigan loss (see Stroud's post-game for evidence), you have Ute looking to cap a historic season for Ute, they're playing big, punch Buck in the mouth from the beginning, and still they lose.

It's one thing to just lose, but it's another to know you gave the other guy your best haymaker, and he got up and knocked you out.

Utah's best running back died a year ago. That kid was pretty unstoppable. Utah wins with Ty Jordan. So it goes both ways.

What it says to me, especially given the history of the division in which they play, is stable program with stable good but not great coaching. A HC who either doesn't have what it takes to play big OR is at a place where he's doing the most that can be done with what's there. Either way, "best trajectory in the nation" is not what comes to mind.

If this somehow translated to massive recruiting and it was still unknown what KW could do with a top 10 or 15 class, then you'd wonder, "hmm, give him another recruiting cycle and let's see." But it probably won't. Yeah they play hard and produce some good players and they're normally not an easy out. And, I started this whole discussion with an acknowledgement that they took their best shot and played out of their minds. But, it's hard to ignore the reality that with everything lined up as good as it's going to get, they lost to a seriously flawed Ohio State team. I give them credit for leaving nothing on the field. But the idea that this is a harbinger of greatness to come is wishful thinking. And they better find a fucking corner back because Riley will have Trojan throwing the ball downfield, and like I said, I have a sneaking suspicion that either or both UW and Duck will be no cake walk next season. Forget the running back dying. Oregon over the last three years is a different team when Verdell is healthy, which was like 30% of the time. They also dealt with injuries on the O line. UW lost ZTF to a likely career limiting injury. Shit happens.

As to the rest, that is my point. USC has been functionally retarded for a while now, Chip has not found the magic at UCLA, Doovil is flawed, Zona is dreck ... at least UW and Oregon have each other with which to contend. So cakewalking to the CCG means what exactly? I listed his bowl record. Since joining the conference they have done exactly shit post-season.

Who is loving Utah? They had a shot to beat tOSU and blew it, but the whole thing about tOSU missing some receivers is kind of stupid, a lot of teams are missing players for various reasons.

And even with their WR's tOSU's defense is awful. Did you see Michigan's offense against Georgia? That offense was worse than UW's in 2016 and they rolled the Buckeyes.

NM. I'm just puzzled why there is such a long argument about Uoogs here. Everyone knows what they are. I like them for it. It's impressive and entertaining to see him cobble together teams that, every time I watch, surprise me with how many good players they have. Thats a spunky little program and a spunky little stadium they have. If I was going or had gone to Utah for whatever weird reason, I think I'd be a pretty bad Uoog. That looks pretty fun.

Trajectory though? Same one they've been on forever. It goes to 10-3 or 11-2 max. They'll never make a 4 team playoff let alone compete in one.
