Those of us who hang out with research scientists instead of Q-Anon podcasters know that the Covid 19 vaccine is statistically much more effective than quite a number of other vaccines that we commonly receive. It’s an argument involving numbers and shit. Over Bob’s and Gasbag’s heads.

It is highly effective at preventing severe illness and death. Some prefer not to be severely ill or dead.

It did indeed early on with the original strain but transmission efficacy waned in individuals over time and then reduced overall when new variants emerged. But it still reduced transmission overall because the length of infectious periods was reduced.
Bottom line was that reducing transmission wasn't the primary justification. It was reducing severe illness, hospitalization, and death. And it worked. It saved tens of millions of lives globally.
Reduced symptoms. That's it.
