Like yes, tactically that's a win for them, but strategically, it's a massive long term loss as supply chains will now circumvent the straight or diversify towards other producers (USA being one)

And oh no, oh no, China's top producer(s) is shut in, what a massive strategic loss for the energy independent US.

The whole point was to shut it in when they were unassailable. Probably during the invasion of Taiwan. Instead you have random irgc commanders doing it in an attempt to meet their mullahs in the sky.

That said the operation should "wind down" and hit an operational steady state after 3-4 weeks.

Expectations should be realistic as to what operations will actually take.
