What more can OS expect?

He is about as good as it gets.

If they do catch lightening in a bottle ... aka Dennis Erickson ... the dude will be gone faster than Erickson was.

And how well can they recruit with Washington to the north and UO to the south.

Just because Mike Riley doesn't get it done doesn't mean it can't be done. Someone fucking did it between Riley's stints.

The year OS won the Fiesta Bowl it was a group of hired hands and JC kids who fit Erickson's mold. It was not sustainable for Corvallis ...

Minus a benefactor like Phil Knight ... OS is who they are.

You can keep a pretty competitive program by raking the top JUCO kids and developing talent. Bill Snyder in Manhattan comes to mind. The Beavers can certainly do better than knowing they have no shot at the start of every season. Well, so can UW, Cal, and ASU but they never do anything to really change that.
