APAG is right, the math is there. Plus kicking a FG there is Tyrone Willingham like. Don't be upset because the result sucked.

Be upset with the play call. Going for it was the right call, that call in particular was a fucking dreckfest.

Only time kicking a FG is acceptable there is if it's late in the 4th quarter.

Bullshit. This team is less than 50% on converting 4th downs this year. That leaves the expected value of going for it right around 3. You take the guarenteed 3.

A meaningful statistic would be how often they convert on plays where the goal is to get one yard (i.e. 3&1, 4&1)

I have to eat crow on that guy. I always thought he sucked but apparently he's had a nice year. He's definitely the only defender worth a damn so far.
 
This looks like the Arizona State game. Only difference is that the opposition sucks. Players don't want to be there. Coaches don't want to be there
