It’s a pretty dumb argument when you think about how difficult it is to end a constitutional republic by affirming/supporting an armed citizenry, lowering taxes, staying out of wars, and securing international boarders from illegal crossings.

If you want to end a republic it seems like you would start with policing speech, disarming citizens, illegally spying on citizens, disallowing non state approved public gatherings, skyrocket unemployment, controlling education, controlling healthcare, controlling the flow of information, endorsing partisan political violence, starting a race war, or monopolizing the press into an untrustworthy propaganda machine for the party.

I think people are overreacting. The viewership of the RNC and both conventions were small. And I actually don't think Trump's over the top politicizing the White House and the unmasked crowd is gonna play well.

While I do believe the socialism.attacks on Bernie from Trump would have been strong at least Bernie would be attacking from a position of strength on foreign policy.

Perhaps trump's most reprehensible decision was vetoing Bernie's war powers act bill on Yemen. He continued a genocide selling out to the Saudis and MBS even after khashoggi. Bernie would be attacking Trump on this and on his broken promise to take troops out of Afghanistan.

Instead Joe's foreign policy critique is "he loves dictators" easily allowing Trump to lie and claim the anti-war lane.

Little movement in polls, and a strong speech today by Biden (if people actually cared about his gaffes he wouldn't be the nominee and up in the polls).

Trump is trying to thread an incredibly narrow argument with the riots and we're already seeing cracks like Conway suggesting riots help Trump, Don Jr. saying that Biden could have stopped the riots weeks ago (what?????), and now Trump not condemning Rittenhouse and MAGA's shooting paintballs at people.

this is stupid. however no one on the left actually believes Biden would do anything substantial. Pretty much everyone has made up their minds on whether they think it's worth voting him just to remove Trump or not. Biden is not going after progressives, he's clearly after suburban moderates.
