I didn't hate the re kick. If Ross takes it the house we're all calling it the greatest decision of all time. I think you take the field position regardless but it's defensible.

Let's put it this way, how many times had we returned kicks for TD's in that game, and how many times had our offense went down the field and scored TD's? The answer to each is one, but the percentage of kick returns TD's was higher.

It was a desperation call, the kind of call you make when you have no faith whatsoever in your offense.

Gimme a break. Peterson had no trust in his QB and our WRs blow. I would've taken it at the 35 and I would've punted, but we clearly had no chance to sustain a drive. Sark would bubble screen to death. Finally, for those who believe Sark left the cupboards full, DIAFF. Game was brutal.
 
There really shouldn't be any debate about this. They have to kick it to your best player and biggest threat. Meanwhile, your offense has only scored 1 TD all game. And you gain an extra 5 yards. The odds are very low that you don't return it to close to the 30. Just happened to have a shit return. Big fucking deal. That loss of 19 yards had very little impact on the game. Still had a chance to tie the game with the ball on Stanfords 30, 1st down with a min left.

I didn't agree with the 4th down call but these are the risks you take to beat a better team because the percentages (and risk/reward of the situation) warrant taking these risks. Now if the game were tied, then you'd take the field position. Down 7 with offense not doing anything, you give Ross another crack.

There is one giant flaw with your point. You want to make them kick it to your best player...but you make no effort to get him the ball yourself all game? If that's the logic, if Ross is worth the risk, then why not get him the ball more?

It's a lot easier to score from the 11 than the 30.

Semi related, Williams wanted to beat Miley like a 12 by the end of the game. Cyrus could lose the team if he can't get the ball out to the playmakers
