What could go wrong? This isn't a bad idea. Just wonder how you enforce it, when some one shows up to the register with a SNAP debit card with some fruits and veggies along with some 2 liter soda jugs?
Apparently it would cost big soda, candy and dessert $25 Billion in Federally subsidized revenue. What could go wrong? This isn't a bad idea. Just wonder how you enforce it, when some one shows up to the register with a SNAP debit card with some fruits and veggies along with some 2 liter soda jugs?
Go on. Continue.Don't make me post the free lunch schedule from White Wakanda elementary though!
You'd start shaking and be ready to vomit.

To your point SNAP doesn't subsidize big alcohol or tobacco.Apparently it would cost big soda, candy and dessert $25 Billion in Federally subsidized revenue. What could go wrong? This isn't a bad idea. I was being a smart ass. Expecting a checker to police snap is a recipe for disasterA lot? I don't know. What could go wrong? This isn't a bad idea. Obviously, you can't use SNAP to buy alcohol or tobacco.
I mean alcohol is an easy once since checkers already police this. But chips and soda ? That’s putting a lot more nanny state burden on checkers.I was being a smart ass. Yeah - pretty sure the allowable items are programmed in at the supermarkets HQ.it’s seems to me this could be enforced pretty easily with electronic means. Self-checkout will give you two bills - one for SNAP and your co-pay for the dog shit.

Yup, this is how WIC works. Could just add SNAP onto whatever platform WIC runs onYeah - pretty sure the allowable items are programmed in at the supermarkets HQ.it’s seems to me this could be enforced pretty easily with electronic means. They can still buy soda and candy but a total cash due is displayed.
Agree.Once upon a time folks had to pull out paper food stamps in line and then our soft asses thought it was mean to embarrass people so they went to cards that looked like a debit card
The old theory was that a little embarrassment is a good push to get off food stamps. Now it becomes a permanent feature passed down through the generations. TITTT I know but its true
It's an entitlement now
