What are some of your favorites? What do you think was the best? Least favorite? Forgotten?
As a kid, I didn’t know Slick was a nickname. I thought his name was Slick Watts.
Downtown Fred Brown was pretty cool.
Marvin “The Human Eraser” Webster. I remember that being on the back of his basketball card

When the Sonics were being formed in 1967, they held a naming contest. My stepdad sent in "Seattle Squires". Al Bianchi was the GM then. They went with Sonics.
A few years later, Bianchi was managing Virginia when they were forming an ABA team. THey came up with the Virginia Squires. My stepdad says he should have sued them into oblivion!

Reminds me that Kraken is a really dumb name for a Seattle team. Not naming them the Emeralds with the traditional Sonic green and yellow was such a fuckup.
 
Portland Trailblazers with the traditional pinwheel and colors is still the best in the NBA.

I loath the Kraken name. It’s weird but it makes me not want to watch or get invested in a team name that I hate so much. Sockeyes was my hope. A salmon mascot with a black eye and a missing tooth.

You all are forgetting HIV Negative, as bestowed upon Earvin Johnson of the 90's Sonics by Kevin Calabro. Today, Calabro would be cancelled for using that moniker. TITTT.

I genuinely tried to give the Kraken a chance.

Between the name, Climate Change Arena, the Covid restrictions, the dumb mascot designed for an eight year old girl, I couldn't do it.

I'll stick with the Canucks.
