He did do his homework (read 30 minutes of articles by Wilner and Canzatto) and knew the right things to say at the press conference.
Most of his career, I would say he worked at companies who were the hammer in business dealings (Hearst, Comcast, MGM). He comes to the Pac-12 as being the nail among the other P5 conferences.
It will be interesting to see if he can get all 12 Universities w/ different agendas, budget, ideas, philosophies, etc on the same page when it comes to the 2 sports he needs to get the ship righted with.
The last two hires for Pac-12 commish were Tom Hansen and Larry Scott. By default he is guilty until proven otherwise.

Get the Pac 12 that CBS contract. The best conference game of the week on CBS at 12:30, televised nationally. That’s a start. Although they are dying a slow death ESPN still sets the narrative for CFB. Give them joint control of the P12 Network so that they have a vested interest in talking up the conference instead of a constant barrage of negativity. Get the network on Direct TV. I mean really? That’s not done yet? I’m okay with 9am games but the schedule needs to be accommodating for the teams that get those slots. I’m okay with Thursday night games as well. Anyway to get the conference on TV. Be creative, be aggressive. This league needs eyeballs and sizzle desperately.
