Motherfucker was burned out before even going to Seattle.
It's hilarious how on Twitter Cal and Duck fans argue over whose victory over Petersen in 2018/19 "made him quit coaching"
Not wanting to rebuild your playbook to the point of just accepting 12-10 losses and 10-3 victories and having to burn clock against Hawaii is the biggest sign you need to GTFO of big boy football.

Exactly right. Year b4 he came here at MW Media Day someone asked him if he planned on coaching another 10 years. He laughed and looked at them like they had 6 eyes. He had retreated from him coaches show to the point iirc he wasn't even doing it anymore.
I read multiple articles from people in Boise that said he was burnt out b4 coming over here. Chris idea was a change in scenery and new challenge of being in a P5 would maybe reignite his passion/love/desire/etc for the game which it did until the RB year and then it was over.
