If LeBron and his band of idiot dwarves somehow unseat GSW not only would he be the GOAT but that would be in itself the greatest accomplishment in basketball history. Second: Argentina beating Team USA in 2004. Fucking Manu Ginobili.

There are huge swaths of fans who for years have been predisposed to hate anything LeBron though, stemming from mid-2000s LeBron vs Kobe debates. His Decision only fueled the fire. Over time logic and accomplishment has stripped a lot of that away, but many still exists. @dnc even downvoted the suggestion that LBJ wouldn't overseat Michael if he knocked off Durant, Curry and Klay. People are dumb :(

At this point I don't know what else he can do to prove himself. If entire Cavs roster sans him died in a maserati crash, GSW added Westbrook, and Lebron beat them literally 1v5 people would still crawl over themselves to bash him.

I’ve always loved Westbrook as a player. I always said he was better than Derrick Rose even when Rose won MVP, but was overshadowed by Durant.

I don’t think his game is going to age well though, and Oladipo’s success this year is a mark against him. Same for the Thunder not being any better even after getting PG13.

Lebron would be Karl Malone in the 80’s and 90’s. Maybe not even that.
