Lowly Washington was able to squeak out 4.8 million viewers while being pitted against a Cowboys game
on TNF.

Anytime your average draw is Wake/Missouri/Syracuse/Minnesota levels, it screams National Brand.

What would the ratings be if Oregon had played University of Texas in the Alamo Bowl?
Texas is big-time. They have their own network.

“Lowly” Washington played a blue blood program with a huge following in a better bowl game.
Oregon played in a lower level bowl game than the Alamo Bowl and they didn’t deserve to be in a better game.
One game was on a Friday night, the day before Christmas Eve (the Holiday Bowl).
The other game was on a Thursday night between Christmas and New Years Day (the Alamo Bowl).
Texas has a HUGE football fanbase. North Carolina does in basketball. Football, not so much.
