Wife makes Thanksgiving almost out of Better Homes and Gardens. Turkey brine ordered months in advance- we start loading up on chicken broth in October. I smoke a brisket on the Pit Boss. Lots of Happy customers.

Last year we went to Bend's relatives and I enjoyed my first fried turey. I liked it- but keeping kids, and flying soccer balls away from the fry area was too stressful.

It figures you married a white broad that doesn't know how to cook the native's favorite bird.

I can imagine the dry white meat to match the dry waspy relatives, with a dry chardonnay to complement of course. Substituting dry ham is no way to go through life son.
We brine the bird and then smoke it, comes out crispy outside super moist inside. Only thing better is deep frying but I already have a smoker and not a deep fryer.
It is a two day effort so yeah, once(maybe twice) per year but wholly fuck all is it good.
Massive agree on the day after sandwiches with all the things on them. I can eat them for a week and not get sick of them.
