We? ran off a corch a little under 2 years post winning a Natty. That was 28 years ago. Since then we've had 2 really great seasons and a few OK ones.

I feel like I pretty much write this same post every few months, but why not one more time...
The end of 2019 broke my little heart, put it in a Cuisinart and hit the purée button. 2020 I was just numb for a lot of it, which is worse in someways. Now in 2021 I’m a full on cynic.
Does that mean I’m moving on from UW?
I’ll always want UW football to succeed...but I’m not going to blindly give them my money, time, love, or support.
So I guess I am moving on in a sense. I’ll follow the Longhorns and #myCocks. And I’m obviously going to keep coming here and casually keep up with UW. I’ll now use my weekends to travel more, explore the outdoors...maybe pick up another hobby...move out of parents’ basement.
See this actually more than just UW. College football as a whole is broken too. If you want to experience #winning again - join Derek on the Clemson bandwagon, cheer for BAMA or Ohio State. It’s all so...predictable.
And at the end of the day that’s the biggest sin CFB is making - it’s boring and not fun anymore.

They want us to be like Oregon and throw money at every flavor of the week coordinater that twitter likes and get a head coach that is like Meat: relentless recruiter, questionable player dev/coaching, insatiable desire to run assistants and players that aren't as good as the next guy up.
I get it. That's what Clemson and Bama and tOSU are doing. Texas now.
It's just not in the DNA of this staff. The AD is letting the staff do what they want (still appears that way to me), and so we are still doing what we did since 2014.
We didn't switch away from this after 2016 we just got some more 4 stars and were willing to mix it up with bigger schools a bit more. Who did we actually win battles over? Fucking Notre Dame? I thought Murao and now Smalls were the first couple of recruits who were indications of next level recruiting. Baker maybe as well.
Other than them it's been all player development and relying on kids who bleed purple and shit gold.
Most of you probably should have been rooting for an even worse 2019 season to force the AD's hand more.

A very good university in one of the wealthiest, most dynamic cities in the world, and Emeka and JT don’t want to go there and ball out. I don’t get it. Of course, I had the opportunity to move back to Seattle 6 years ago but instead moved to the Southeast. Great trade FWIW

I’m an old lady now, so I may be wrong, but is Seattle as a city thought of as dynamic?
I get the irony of replacing one underperforming DWAG team for another, but at least from the AD on down at Georgia I actually really believe they are fully invested in winning. I have not personally believed the UW AD is fully invested in winning in over 20 years. There is wanting to win, and then there is full on scorched Earth we will do whatever it takes to win.
My hot take is Jen wants to win, but if not, whatever, there is always a nice Starbucks and some donor letters to send to beg for money. I just do not feel a major commitment to winning from Montlake. It feels very perfunctory to me. Why should I be heavily invested if they aren't?

p.s. And while I refuse to make this a Tug post, I feel you cannot overstate how central the location and political climate issue is to the potential success of UW, or almost any Pac-12 team. After the way the Covid protocols were handled this year, it has become apparent to me that politics is more important than football out west (duh). Sustainability awards! I'd rather spend my tim supporting a team that will prioritize football the way I do. But go UW, or something. Good luck. I will of course continue to follow UW and hope they win. I spent 30 years invested in this program, but it just doesn't mean much to me anymore, because it appears to me it doesn't mean much to them, beyond empty platitudes.
