Mother's Day

Word to your mother.

I'm for mothers but against Mother's Day brunch. I have refused to go for about 18 years now.

Bigger question....do you hate the actual brunch or the idea of brunch?

The idea mostly, I think. It's a cliche ritual that annoys me because certain family members are so into it. That said, the typical brunch is a odyssey of overpriced mediocrity. Shitty buffet, not enough alcohol, food that doesn't do well together. Etc. just a fucking dreckfest of a meal.

Just another created holiday to prop up the big greeting card.

So Woodrow Wilson in "Big Greeting Card's" back pocket?

In 1914 Woodrow Wilson signed the proclamation creating Mother’s Day, the second Sunday in May, as a national holiday to honor mothers.

I think the Big Greeting Card lobby got together with the Big Brunch lobby and made a successful run at Wilson. As many did.
