I guess the M's didn't try to sign him.

Not sure how that implicates them as being incompetent. He also plays 1st base and the M's already have Naylor who is a better player than this guy.
 
$17 mil per year was quite a bit to risk on this guy. I can't believe the White Sox did it given where they're at. It's only two years. They're getting better but their actual competitive window probably doesn't start until after he's gone.

No way the Ms had a spot for him. This isn't the Old Cascade League where you can find ways to squeeze 3-4 first basemen onto the active lineup.
