So after reading Jen's/Ron Crockett/New head of Montlake Future/Finance Director under Cowen comments it is obvious UW has decided they don't/won't (or can't) play in those scummy pay for play waters.
However they are selling $15 hats for $100 so in essence you are giving them money (which on the Montlake Futures Website has the look, feel and professionalism of jr. high kids selling coats and mattress to their family members so they can go march in the Macy's Parade in New York) which they are then going to use the proceeds from to help their student athletes with.
How is this any different than a group of car dealership boosters in Norman Oklahoma pooling their money and then signing football players who committed or are on the team to do a couple of meet and greets 4 hours total a year.
Both ways legal, and both ways designed to get around the original intent of NIL which was jersey and autograph sales. The only difference is the level of $ we are talking about.
