The smart thing to do is build your credit score up to 800 by having 5 or 6 cards, always paying the statement balances, and getting the points for purchases.

Get a Chase Freedom Unlimited with 1.5% back on everything, a Costco card for 4% back on gas, a travel card, an Amazon card for shit you buy on there (5% back), and then a Best Buy or some other random card when you make a big purchase there (tv)

Credit cards are only bad if you have no self control. Which tbh is most Americans.
