Weird narrative that DeSantis is backed completely by anti-MAGA forces yet DeSantis has cozied up to Trump policies all over the place as Governor of Florida. Unless he is playing some long game bait and switch thing where he runs as MAGA lite then totally go establishment turd after elected. I'm not seeing it but I am also not into hero worship and never trust politicians as a rule so who knows.

In a Desantis v. Biden race the issue of being a lying piece of shit is back in play. Trump could never play that card because he was a lying piece of shit. Same goes for the corruption issue. The Biden family has gotten fabulously wealthy trading off of Joe's position in government. Trump couldn't exploit that due to his own corrupt and shady business dealings.

Also, remember when the topic of CRT being taught in our schools and pushed in government came up during the debate? Trump being the inarticulate boob he is couldn't explain it nor exploit it and allowed Biden to get away with identifying it as racial sensitivity training. That doesn't happen with DeSantis

Very true. We all know Trump has the attention span of a gerbil (his own people have consistently made that point describing the frustration they had in counseling him), and the confidence to "wing it" on pretty much anything. There's no doubt in my mind that during the election someone said, "hey let's have an answer for CRT" and he blew it off while thinking about Melania's ass, and figured he'd glance at a wiki page on it at some point and be able to pull it off.

DeSantis would be able to debate that issue with a Harvard professor and win on the merits. If I were in Biden's camp, I would not agree to a single debate with that guy and just suffer the damage from being accused of ducking him. Trump? Biden has a small chance insofar as Trump will do his own damage to himself without the living corpse have to do anything but stare.

The other thing nobody's brought up (that I've read anyway) is that DeSantis will pull in moderates and Rinos, people with whom Trump has little chance, though I do know people who went with Trump while pinching their noses as the proverbial lesser of two evils. DeSantis seems like he would appeal to more people in the middle to middle right.
