Petersen goes 8-6 with Sark's roster in year 1.
Helfrich makes it to the natty with Chip's roster in year 2.
What inherent truths were we supposed to pull out of these results again?
All rank speculation at this point, but the "Helfrich is Chip paint fumes + Mariota" routine is lazy. What has Peterman done to improve the program in Seattle to date? If you look at another similar rebuild at Texas, you can see Strong having done a 180 with the defense and cut tons of dead wood even if the team still has a ways to go. UW looks mentally weak, the QB development was atrocious. I find it hard to believe there isn't one serviceable D-1A QB on that roster.
There's not some magic badass powder that emanates from the fucking blue field that keeps Boise being Boise while coaches leave and fail. That is why Mosster is so fucking stupid, and anyone else who tries to connect Petersen to Cudder and Hookins. UW is much more supportive and fruitful for building a program than fucking Colorado and ASU, for reasons that have been iterated here over and over.
It's not a secret, Boise has a winning culture, just like Oregon. It's a matter of changing the culture of UW from one of losing, and that's fucking hard to do. Hence good coaches coming in cleaning house while having mediocre to bad years in year 1. Helfrich hasn't had to change a culture or even deal with any adversity at that program yet.
So if Woodmert hired Urban Meyer do you think he would have went 8-6 with not even a fucking shred of a D-1 QB at the end of the season then had the team come out asleep for the bowl game?
Fuck off with the hypothetical bullshit. Who knows? Maybe he'd do a little better, no way to tell how he'd even begin to fix this shitshow. but what a meaningless fucking talking point. I do know that with Dick Rod, UW would have rolled through every team and would have been a perfect 15-0. I learned that from the most hardcore duck/wildcat/college football fan in America.
When Boise lost its opener it's 'Oh look how shitty Boise is now with Pete's players. Pete has clearly skipped town and cashed in for a last payday.'
Then Boise finishes their season and it's 'Oh look it's all about Boise, they win no matter who the coach is.'
Which is it coogs and quooks?
Pretty simple answer, why did Auburn win the National Title in 2010? Gus Malzahn. They realized that and "fixed the glitch." First year with Gus back and they are playing for a title.
Pete's OC leaves, the program takes a down turn, Pete leaves, the OC comes back as the head man and by the end of year one they win another BCS Bowl.
If Peterman went to Oregon every Doog would be spouting off about how he is another Diggler/Hawkins. Luckily for us Quooks he went to UW so now we're telling you that after 12 months that a defense littered with All-Americans could never win you a big game, your QB play started and finished with awful, and recruiting isn't very good. OKG's can't tackle Royce Freeman, fucking stud football players have to do it.
Sark was a shit bird that won 9 games. Peterman is awesome at 8 wins with 4 gimmes?
Your program didn't take one step in a positive direction, you will be less talented next year, Oregon State just got better at the head coaching spot, and Oregon is about to win a National Championship with the most ridiculous infrastructure ever imagined to not take a step back.
Not one thing about Peterman's career suggests he can turn something around and nothing about this year suggest it has started.
