The narrative started collapsing right after Christmas with partial admissions that pcr tests don’t really work well. That was about the same timing as the data release as well. But then literally two weeks ago, Biden lawyers argued in the Supreme Court to keep their vaccine mandates. I’m sure knowing at that time that the CDC natural immunity study was near completion. Conflicting actions

I think it’s more likely that the shift has to do with internal polling and not some new data point coming out. They’ve shrugged off science and statistics for two years. Not sure why they would suddenly care about it now.
