The problem is that the “science” being fed to the general public by the major news outlets is garbage, and the science being offered to question government narratives has been successfully branded as fringe and extremist by a dutiful and dogmatic MSM.

Tell me...what exactly has the government gotten right throughout all of this? An international travel ban last March? Sure. Operation warp speed to expedite vaccine production and distribution? Ok, yeah. But who was in charge during those initiatives?
