I thought of Sterk and had to laugh at myself for giving Helms a thumbs up grade. I did the same for Sterk for basically the same reasons. He's a good athlete with plus speed for his size.

Sometimes it's necessary to be a football player too. Hopefully this guy is.

Sterk made me flaccid. Helms does not but may end up making me stiff. Or not. Either way....

Agree. I dont hate Heims as a recruit. Just like I dont hate Wyrsch or McCutcheon or Tsion Nunnally. I hate them in the context of this recruiting class. They represent us losing out on our top tier guys where we were recruiting against our biggest rivals and then moving down the list so we can get some easy recruiting victories against schools like Colorado and Arizona and Fresno State. We shouldnt be doing that in June and we shouldnt be doing that for our entire class.

I think it's good to take one, maybe two, of these high-ceiling project-types per recruiting class. Maybe a third of these guys pan out. Those who don't? No biggie, just couchsale them to Bozeman.

The problems start when super-raw project-types make up a substantial portion your roster. Next thing you know, Talia fucking Crichton is starting on your D-line, and your HC always looks hungover.
 
Did a short interview with Doogpound. Says besides UW, Illinois, Penn St. and Colorado are recruiting him the hardest. I know we joke about Illinois but his Penn St. offer probably isn't committable right now and Colorado has a new coach. The difference is Heims has been a target since the get go pretty much. Even if we were doing well recruiting he was a take. Dyson and others were takes because of missing early targets.

Not at all. This is no Atoe or Skyler Fancher. Helms is an amazing talent. IDGAF if it's a JV tape. Then again, it is a JV tape. I'd rather have the upside with Helms than Summerville, a waster scholarship or an Arizona level end.

Look. I think there will be one or two major surprises in this class that we look back and say, 'fuck, how did those guys fly under the radar?' That said, clearly we are getting our dick kicked so far with the high profile kids.

I really like Moore. I like the raw OL and I like Helms. ATBSBGFS

He transferred over from Germany and wasn’t allowed to play varsity due to the late transfer. He camped and got an offer from Penn State who saw him in person.
