If Fickell turns down USC, Aranda is their guy. Franklin probably calls Jen and says he'll take a discount if the rumors of him wanting out badly at PSU are true. I'm not sure how I feel about Franklin.
Let's not pretend Campbell wouldn't be a high profile big dick hire here. We can poke holes in his resume but I would doog like hell if we hired him. Every vacant program has tried to poach this guy.

Why don’t people like Campbell exactly?
-Was youngest head coach in FBS when took over Toledo. Still only 41.
-Dominated peers in the MAC and scored multiple OOC upsets.
-First conference title game appearance in Iowa State history. They’ve never won Big 8/12.
-First major bowl win in ISU history. Johnny Majors and Earle Bruce never won there.
-Only took two years to turn around the program (remember Stoops year 2?)
-Consistently in top third of conference since year 2 despite lack of resources or any history or tradition.
-Coach of the year in his conference four out of nine years (awards are stupid but still)

Franklin is Pete. Adult in charge 9 or 10 wins most years. Hasn't got over the hump at Penn State and might not here. His best team was the Fiesta Bowl champs over Worshington
Campbell is a above average but not porn star size dick hire. The whole does more with less thing does not always mean will do more with more. Often it doesn't
Could be a reason he is happy at Iowa State where 6-4 is every goal he had for the squad

That’s why you look at the entire resume. Anything can happen in a small sample. Their three conference losses were all on the road and by a TOTAL of 12 points. They’ve also blown some teams out.
Overall they are 4-6 against the spread.

I generally agree but you could argue he broke through at Penn St because he did win the conference outright and beat Urban at his height. He also recruits really well and with the P12 so awful that's like 2/3 of the battle at UW to lift the program back into the top 2.
I don't love the idea but am playing devil's advocate. I wouldn't hate it either but he's not near the top. He's worlds better than Wilcox of course.

It's all relative. I trust there are others who know way more than I do. I know he's one of the most sought-after HC's in the country, so he must be good. I just look at his resume and yeah, it's good, but I'm not seeing the greatness.

Counter: Campbell has won consistently (relative to program history) at two separate programs over at least five years. He has scouted, recruited, and developed guys with success. While surrounded by hostile programs with far superior resources. Aranda however is in his 2nd season and only has one good year to show for it. You take risks any way you slice it unless it's a sure thing like Stoops.
