I'm sure if I went to Princeton I would think there is some easy or obvious solution, but because I didn't, I understand the world is complex and there's no easy fixes.

What do you do when someone has trouble selling, but you can't get rid of him because he's too valuable?

One thing I might try and do is get an out-of-state win for K to get his confidence going. When you are on a losing streak you get weird. Everyone does. I think this strategy is going to generate a lot of 'thanks but no thanks'es and I don't think that's good for anyone.

I might shift the focus massively to in-region eval and get some offers out to people like Hall or Orin Patu that others WILL offer, but haven't yet. If we can get one of those guys to bite, then we aren't left holding the bag at the end of the cycle. Concentrate on where fish are more likely to bite and I think we will get somewhere.

Right now we are in the 'yelling at the water' phase of fishing.

Also, we make kids ask for the offer, so the another important metric is who we are following on twitter that is a top 300 kid. It doesn't take a genius to see we are much more indiscriminate with BUCKs than we are at other positions.

Right now we have about 15 offers out to BUCK/SAMs. Of those, we have 1 guy that might be a realistic target at this point (Trice). The others are just spray and pray guys who we either SHOULD be in on and aren't (I think of this as anyone good in our region; Thibodeaux, McCoy, Latu, Pakola, Robinson, Floyd, etc.) and guys we shouldn't be in on and aren't (Top 300 guys out of region; Hicks, Mowry, Soli, Ellison, Isumun-Handley, etc.) - you know how many to OL? 9.

What do you do when someone has trouble selling, but you can't get rid of him because he's too valuable?

One thing I might try and do is get an out-of-state win for K to get his confidence going. When you are on a losing streak you get weird. Everyone does. I think this strategy is going to generate a lot of 'thanks but no thanks'es and I don't think that's good for anyone.

I might shift the focus massively to in-region eval and get some offers out to people like Hall or Orin Patu that others WILL offer, but haven't yet. If we can get one of those guys to bite, then we aren't left holding the bag at the end of the cycle. Concentrate on where fish are more likely to bite and I think we will get somewhere.

Right now we are in the 'yelling at the water' phase of fishing.

I think they are trying to establish UW as a program that can take a few kids from the South every year or two the way Oregon can. Yeah, I mean - the science on sales is pretty much: don't wince from rejection, also have confidence. They aren't mutually exclusive. I don't really know how exactly to fix it because I'm not close enough to it to really see what's going on. Maybe Kwat is afraid of rejection. Maybe he's lost confidence.

All of those things are something I can't really determine. But the thing I can determine is that he's propositioning every 10 in the bar and getting nowhere.

I'm not sure he's ever beaten anyone for a recruit for real. They brought in both Lake and Boner to help him close Martin and he couldn't do it. Fundamentally, the bond wasn't strong enough to overcome the fact that we offered late and didn't have the barber in our corner.

You can say 'they cheated' - but Huff went up against them for Curne and I'm sure they tried to cheat there, too. I'm about production not excuses.
