Mariners raising their AL West champions banner last night

I get it because of their history, but don't pin this on the M's as another participation trophy thing. All professional teams do this in every sport. Making this out as an example of the Mariners being JV doesn't really work.

Having been in San Antonio's arena last weekend, uh, no, all pro teams don't do this.

They only had Western Conference championship and NBA champion banners.

Agree with @DerekJohnson, this gives off loser vibes, big tim.

When I went to Yankee Stadium, I walked to the front of the stadium and looked up at the ballastrade or whatever you call it. It listed 27 world championships but no division titles. Not one.

No AL championships, either, I presume?

Division champs is as low as one can go.

I never considered that but I'm 98% sure they were not listed.
I see nothing wrong with a team posting AL championship banners for sure

Teams that prominently display division championship banners

These clubs are known for recognizing division titles in their stadiums:
  • New York Yankees – Display AL East titles along with AL pennants and World Series titles
  • St. Louis Cardinals – Very tradition-heavy; division titles are part of Busch Stadium displays
  • Atlanta Braves – Especially notable given their long run of division titles
  • Los Angeles Dodgers – Division titles are included alongside larger achievements
  • San Francisco Giants – Display multiple levels of achievements including divisions
  • Chicago Cubs – Division titles appear in Wrigley Field displays
  • Houston Astros – Modern-era displays include division titles
  • Cleveland Guardians – Recognize AL Central titles
