Send the M’s over the border to….Oregon. Problems solved, Pea Patch Safeco or whatever it’s called now. It’s got a nice retractable roof, a real plus for tomatoes

My Moog (Mariner Doog) scenario is that, besides great pitching, they use chaos ball to squeak wins out until they are ready to add a significant bat at the trade deadline. We'll see some regression with Robles but Julio, Arozarena, Polanco, and Garver should have at least modest improvements in their numbers. I'm not sure what JP Crawford we'll get.
I'm not counting much on Haniger since he is injury prone and a year older. At best, we'll probably see something around .230 / .300 / .420 and 15 HRs.
I wish ownership wasn't self-constraining in terms of payroll. IMHO, the damage it has caused to their / the club's reputation is easily exceeds the $15 million they could have spent to add a pretty good bat.
 
Wait where is the "Justin Turner is a cuog" allegation coming from? Dude is from Long Beach and went to Cal State Fullerton?

The couch gm is a Cuog, or at least a Cuog fan which makes him a Cuog.
Plus there's the previously mentioned mustache.
As for Turner...if I didn't already like the guy I would after he made those comments. He could even be a Cuog and it wouldn't matter.

It's kinda funny. My phone has started auto correcting Cuog to capitalized.
 
everyone knows that all you need in the playoffs is 3 good starters and some chicken wire so i expect to see the mariners trade 2 starters for players at the deadline ~ the first guy will be Pete Alonzo, the first baseman for the Mets (Richie Sexson redux) who will be available after yet another poor first half and we will swing another deal probably with Texas to acquire the young OF Evan Carter with promise that sat out the last 2/3rd of last season.

Thought it might be worthwhile to post some TS and PS for Mitch Haniger's career. He was a good dude. I'm glad they did the right thing and ended it though.
 
Cal Raleigh extended. 6 years, $106-$123 million.
This means the Ms will extend, at most, two of their starting pitchers and that only if they can sucker Miller or Woo into a cheap one. Kirby is all but gone the way things feel.
I could see Gilbert (big $$) and Woo (cheap) or Miller and Woo. Most likely though is that one of Miller or Woo gets $50-$75 and Gilbert hits FA in a couple of years.

I think Kirby might be. I doubt Gilbert is.
It'll suck to see, but it's better to trade them at peak value, sacrificing a year or even two, than let them walk for nothing. Their trade value is too high to ignore.
 
2nd best opening day record in MLB history.
Promptly shut out and blown out the next night.
If I was them I'm hoping Castillo puts together a nice stretch where you can trade him for a bat. Push his money down to one of the younger guys.
