March madness hotel

I've watched at Mandalay before ... was at MGM in December. Can't go wrong with either book.

I'd recommend MGM ... sports bar adjacent to the book ... best of both worlds.
 
I've stayed around a few places, but going to head down for the first or second weekend. More than likely the first. I didn't know if anyone set up any special rooms b/c the books have to be packed. Always loved the MGM. True classic.
 
I prefer the King Oscar Hotel on Hosmer Street in Tacoma. Access to hookers is walking distance and they have hourly rates in case you get bored and wasnt to LEAVE.

The Calico Cat on Pacific Avenue is also solid

IMO, they are all kind of tough places to actually watch a game unless you have a table reserved. But, Ceasar's does to a special setup for the madness and their sportsbook area is massive. MGM was good, just more cramped. Cosmopolitan has a really cool small one that seems (at least last year) to be underutilized. Not sure if that holds for NCAAs though.

It is tough to get a seat at many. A couple buddies and I found a good spot at Treasure Island, actually. Have a huge banquet room set up with humongous projection screens playing all the games, bookies on site, alcohol and food. There was a lot of room but it was still pretty crowded. Good atmosphere. If they're still doing it, I'd check it out.

I'd like to have the crowd so that you get both side of the bets. It's so much fun even if you don't have a side to watch the crowd flow with each basket. I may have to just call around and see who may still have setups like this, because the sports books are going to be packed.

Agree on Cosmo. Small place, but never full and very nice.
 
No one been the the Mirage? Watched a couple tournaments there. Not as packed as the MGM with a great atmosphere. Actually met Dave Wyman there one year during the tourney and he was puttin a few back. If you are there for the first (2nd) rd of the tourney you should be able to put on a 3 day bender hitting up a different sportsbook each day of the tourney.
 
International Las Vegas Hilton LVH Westgate is the spot.

They turn their theater into an area with multiple game similar to the way they do for NFL Sundays.

And in the sportsbook area, they still offer free drinks.
 
Mandalay has a great book but it is jam packed. Old Hilton Westgate was awesome if you had the pass to get all you could eat/drink all day. I recall the MGM being a little to small.

I would probably go to the sports bar adjacent to MGM's sports book than the actual book.

The book is great if you can just sit in there during the day ... but the sports bar that is adjacent is quite good with a great beer selection and really good food.
 
I don't think I'll make it to Vegas this year, but plan on Reno/Tahoe as a back up. In Reno, The Grand Sierra Resort (I like to call it GSR) has a great sports book. I'll never forget calling my professional gambling buddy before the alabama - texas title game and getting his advice to take the under on Colt Mccoy TD passes at 1.5

I put a grand on it for myself and a grand for him. Once Mccoy went down with the shoulder on the first drive, I got so drunk and had the time of my life.

The kicker is if the book had labeled the bet "Texas QB" I would have lost because 5-star Gilbert played the best game of his career and threw 2 TDs.

Bellagio used to be the only one left with free drinks, not sure if they still have them. The trick is to find a place that gives you a free drink with a horse bet. It's basically a 2.50 drink and gravy if your horse wins. Mirage was like that but its old school. Cosmos is nice but don't know the situation.
