I think the 24hr news cycle has fried everyone's brains.

You basically said would you trade in the reason they play the games (hardware, championships) for a chance to maybe play for the reason they play the games in the future.

What actually happened... We are in the national championship and we had in the 40th ranked recruiting class in the country, almost losing to the coach we just hired and we got rid of somebody that was sleeping with someone else while going to the biggest game of our lives. We are in a good spot

It depends how fucked we are roster-wise. Hiring Fisch as quickly as we did should save it, but if you asked me this question on Friday night I'd pause. Winning the CFP is worth an 0-12, losing it not so much.

That recruiting is not the sign of a staff that wants to be here long.

I could've seen DeBoer bouncing to the NFL to become an OC.
 
Next year was going to be a taped together massacre of a 8-9 win Citrus Bowl season with Deboer at the helm.

You can't live off the portal alone, the elephant in the room of poor foundational recruiting was coming for his ass.
