This. There’s no reason to freak out about Brennan and Steve following their dads who weren’t coaching last year, or assistants leaving for promotions. Let Walters get his guysm in there and repeat what he did at Illinois. It’s not like our defense was all that exciting last year.
 
Any assistant worth a shit does not want to be where he currently is. The first corching job I ever took, my boss asked me in the interview, “Do you want my job?”. I took a deep breath and replied “yes”. He looked at me and said “If you don’t want my job, I don’t want you here”. We laughed about it later, but I asked the question to every assistant I ever hired…

A man's got to know his limitations. And that isn't a knock. Venebles was a great DC. About to get fired at OU. There have been others.
Every year the NFL goes ape shit over some hot coordinator and he gets a head coach job and 2 years later he's gone. No warning

Agree. Kwat has years of being a successful coordinator/assistant HC, and the bank account that goes with it. He doesn’t need to chase the bag any more. He doesn’t want to be a head coach. It’s a great gig if you can get it…
