I never played the games and am over this genre on most everything these days, but yeah HBO shoved this they/it into a role that makes absolutely no sense and it was just done to shove it to the viewers.Yeah I thoroughly enjoyed White Lotus, but I felt the first two seasons had a near Curb Your Enthusiasm level of bringing everything together well and this one was super sloppy and with a bunch of stuff that didn't end up mattering or never got resolved. Agree on Gary, especially since this guy met his wife he killed at a White Lotus and is now on the run, but he moves by a White Lotus and just hangs out there all the time?
I don't know the game but isn't the girl in Last of Us game pretty? For an industry that is hemmoraging viewers and customers the whole we're going to cast unattractive and odd-looking people in stuff isn't a great strategy. I live in Woolley, I constantly see ugly people. Maybe when I check out for my fiction I want to see people that are attractive.
Film of the year so far.Warfare tonight at a dumpy theater that doesn't serve alcohol.
Whoever came up with reserved seating needs to be forced to watch Wicked on repeat in a locked room with nothing but a TV screen, a handgun, and a bottle of scotch.
I'm over ragging on the what's her name chick in the show, but SPOILER ALERT, they're really gonna do this show without the main character who is one of two characters it's easy to follow if you're only watching episodes once and kind of the only likable character on the show?I never played the games and am over this genre on most everything these days, but yeah HBO shoved this they/it into a role that makes absolutely no sense and it was just done to shove it to the viewers.Yeah I thoroughly enjoyed White Lotus, but I felt the first two seasons had a near Curb Your Enthusiasm level of bringing everything together well and this one was super sloppy and with a bunch of stuff that didn't end up mattering or never got resolved. I watched season 1 and everything they pulled in that that supposedly wasn't in rhe game, and then I watched a few clips of the violent parts of the second game.
The vibe of this show should have been 28 Days Later.
Fuck HBO.
Ellie is supposed to be convincing enough to be the main character of the story for this specific season + next. She isn't imposing, in any way, so yes this completely does not work.I'm over ragging on the what's her name chick in the show, but SPOILER ALERT, they're really gonna do this show without the main character who is one of two characters it's easy to follow if you're only watching episodes once and kind of the only likable character on the show?I never played the games and am over this genre on most everything these days, but yeah HBO shoved this they/it into a role that makes absolutely no sense and it was just done to shove it to the viewers.Yeah I thoroughly enjoyed White Lotus, but I felt the first two seasons had a near Curb Your Enthusiasm level of bringing everything together well and this one was super sloppy and with a bunch of stuff that didn't end up mattering or never got resolved. Take it to the Tug.
There’s a semi hot middle aged redhead with a great rack.
Someone has finally created the content I want - people reviewing books of movies they haven't finished reading yet. It's a reminder to me that Hollywood has never really been about "original ideas." A lot of what people thought were original idea franchises were just based on books and short stories. Not the last movie I watched but I’m currently reading The Godfather for the first time.
A couple things stand out:
the first 100 pages match the movie very well
Luca Brasi is basically described as John Wick. Until they receive they receive the fish, Sonny and Tom Hagen are scared that Luca turned on the family
Paulie, Don Corleone’s regular driver, is much more complicit in the book than as described in the movie
It's a good point. It's really just a good execution of something we have seen a lot. That's really it. Is it really better than the first season or two of The Walking Dead, but with fewer characters. The other thing that irritates me, especially right now, is how people act like this is the deepest, most sophisticated, mind blowing character drama set in a post apocalyptic setting ever. Unless I'm missing something there's nothing unique or amazing here.
Anyone seen The Road. Or hell, even the 28 years later trailer?
I think that the main thing this IP has going for it is that Gen Z grew up with it and got attached to all these "non-traditional" characters. It's a good point. I think the bar has gotten really lowered for what gets raved about in TV and movies now.
Once you hit like the youngest millennial you start to get people who grew up when almost everything was already not that good, frequently at best at least mega derivative of older stuff, and too much CGI and comic book nonsense and their ruler for what's good or great is all fucked up. My young millennial girlfriend/beard will talk about Avengers Infinity whatever like it's the best movie ever made to compare things against.I think that the main thing this IP has going for it is that Gen Z grew up with it and got attached to all these "non-traditional" characters. It's a good point. I've actually gotten more enjoyment out of Hacks so far. At least that show can be funny once or twice an episode even if it's plagued by most of the same Max problems.
