Jump: America's Van Halen Experience at House of Blues, Dallas.
They are right now the best Roth-era VH tribute band out there I have seen. I am kind of a snob about tribute bands. If you are going to be a tribute ban, look the part.
The bass player had the look and wardrobe down. Even had a Jack Daniels Bass and played a Michael Anthony bass solo. Just missing some Capezios
The drummer had the late 70's Alex Van Halen hair, but wore a t-shirt that said, "I heart hot teachers" The look could be improved with white pants, green sequined vest and aviator sunglasses.
The guitar player had '84 era EVH wardrobe down. His hair wasn't quite there. The other knock was he was playing a Kramer 5150 EVH guitar that EVH never played during the '78-84 era.
Lead singer had almost everything down. He did multiple jumps off the riser. Lots of leg kicks. Lots of wardrobe changes to get the pants right of the different Roth wardrobe.

Went to an indie rock show last week. They are called Somebody’s Child. They are from Ireland and this was their first time playing in the US. It was a great show.

Trucks is a great slide guitar guy carrying on the old ways.
I always thought the Atomic Punks in the early 2000s were the GOAT of Diamond Dave era tribute bands.
The Ralph Saenz aka Michael Starr/Bart Walsh era of Atomic Punks had the music down for sure. Which is why Roth would get guitarists for his early 2000 tours from them. When Satchel joined at least he dressed the part with the white/red overalls. Then Starr and Satchel went on to become Steel panther, which is a pretty fun show to go to if you have never gone.
I saw them some where around 2005ish with the lead singer and guitar player from Steel Panther. I thought they were the GOATs as well until I saw Fan Halen in 2022 on the street in Fremont. Fucking incredible
You can always count on some skrong Atomic Punks takes at HH especially from the fellas of the north country like @Joey
Bad Omens w/Beartooth in San Antonio @ the Frost Bank Center.
These are relatively new metalcore bands. Ms. Flatus is a tad *ahem* younger than I, so I wouldn't be seeing these bands without her interest. The music is a weird hybrid of poppy high-pitched vocals with intermittent screaming and heavy guitar, drums, and synth. I like the hardest of heavy metal but cannot "get" this genre. Having just seen NIN 3 weeks ago, old industrial rock and this stuff don't compare. I doubt many will be filling arenas 30 years from now to see this stuff, but perhaps old farts like me were saying that back then, too.
As an aside, I'd never been to the Frost Bank Center. It's OK, seems like an old version of the Toyota Center in Houston or Moody Center in Austin. But, a lot of history for the Spurs since they moved out of the Alamo Dome in 2002. Those lucky fucks are primed to start winning titles again soon.

TOOL Spokane in Fall 2023. Seen dozens of shows in my life but as I get older concerts don’t interest me. Rumors are they are looking at a Sphere week so that might be worth a trip to Vegas.

I agree, TOOL at the Sphere could be the ultimate experience. I doubt I could afford it.
Metallica is doing the Sphere, too. I've seen then several tims so don't think this would be worth the exorbitant price, as I don't think of Metallica as cerebral, visual music. But TOOL absolutely is.
Imagine Pink Floyd at the Sphere, in their prime? Holy shit.
