Damn this is exciting! I can't contain my excitement anymore. I'm 99% sure he's a Dawg so I'm gonna go ahead and doog it up. Getting this kid would be a program changer. Getting both of the Hawaii defensive lineman was unbelievable in itself. I mean, just think back 10 months ago. You were an idiot if you thought Faatui Tuitele was going anywhere but USC and you could say UW had, at best, a 50-50 chance at landing Sama Paama. But the thought of landing both of them was un-fucking-fathomable, even for a doog like myself. Then it happened and I'm still in shock when I think about it and now we're talking about adding Laiatu Latu as well. Fuck man, this is every doogs wet dream right now.
First of all, Latu is no longer a Buck prospect. I was shocked to see him in pictures and to have it confirmed just how big he is and how fast and athletic he is at that size. He's 6'6 270 and will be a 300 pounder in college. This is the best defensive line prospect in the state of California and possibly the best D-line prospect to come out of California in years. If he announces he's signed with UW tomorrow, it will cement this D-line class as the best UW has ever had and potentially the best D-line class this conference has ever seen. It would signal another new level that UW recruiting has reached by going into California and stealing USC's #1 in-state defensive target. If they can beat USC for this kid, they can beat USC for practically any kid from California who isn't an "all SC no matter what" kid like Bru McCoy.
I mean this entire cycle USC's justification for not recruiting Kayvon Thibodeaux has been "the coaches prefer Laiatu Latu" and now UW is going to bitch slap them again for him too? Unreal. UW's response to USC flipping Marlon Tui at the last minute and spitting in our faces while doing it has been like watching a man be torn apart by a grizzly bear after trying to steal it's salmon. Just a ravenous, relentless, and savage dismembering of Clay Helton and Johnny Nansen. Taki Taimani, Tuli Letuligasenoa, Sama Paama, Faatui Tuitele, and now likely Laiatu Latu. They poked the bear and now they're paying the price. I'm gonna need a turnt Spirit Horse song on the Signing Day pod talking about the spirits not being pleased with Nansen's past transgressions against UW and now taking their revenge.
What would UW be getting with Latu? Ironically enough, they'd be getting a talent who compares well to former USC defensive lineman Leonard Williams!
