LA Times: Mora Buyout only $2.5 million.

"Mora signed a five-year, $11.235-million contract when he was hired. The deal has already been extended one year, with Mora to receive $2.5 million for 2017. The contract also includes a buyout clause. Mora would owe UCLA $2.5 million if he gives notice before Jan. 16, 2014, or $2 million after that date." LA Times

Considering that USC just put $1.5 million into the Jim Mora slush fund today, we're talking $1 million, (tip money). BTW, Mora's base is only $2 million, ($500,000 a year less than we paid Sark). UCLA pays near bottom of the conference for football coaches.

Wilcox's $1M and Tosh's whatever it is give us more coming in than going out.

The buyout is not the issue.

The money shouldn't be the issue at all. Mora has been given two pay raises already and he STILL makes $500,000 less than Sark. Mora had to fight the AD to get money for his assistants last year. The AD just rebuilt Pauley Pavilion. They're having trouble raising the $50 million for the new football facility. The Rose Bowl costs them a ton in rent, and doesn't give them the revenue that Husky Stadium gives us. In traffic it can be over an hour drive to get there.

The only thing that is taking time is the fact that UCLA is scrambling to figure out where to get $4 million a year to pay Mora. I'm pretty sure they don't have it. They never have before.

I think this gets closed before noon tomorrow.

WELCOME HOME MORA FAMILY!

Hell, if we need to sweeten the pot, just pay off Sark's mortgage and include his house in the deal. Right up the street from Mora's place in YP

Actually, we don't need to get aggressive about finding sources of money. Woodward needs to be cautious with contractual issues. Our business is supposed to be winning games, not winning law suits. Babs never learned that.
