Kill me now

How do we find our Cuban? I just heard he spent seven figures on a suite for the national championship game.
Balmer is the only guy I can think of who remotely fits this bill and he has no connection to the program and only to the region via Microsoft. Fisch has definitely been working him and there's been talk that he has come on board. The kicker in this recruiting class is his godson. I also just discovered they share the Jewish brotherhood.

The pitch to Balmer is buying an NFL team right now is almost impossible I assume and this is the closest thing. Not sure what else you have there.

It occurred to me last night that Oregon feels like an all star team vs an actual team. Kinda like the Kobe, Shaq, Malone, GP team vs Detroit.

Lanning is a rah rah guy and their front office chases (buys) stars and Dan believes he can mold them together to win. My guess is he/they don’t dig deeper and their philosophy is even if a particular 3 star is a better fit than a shiny 5 star they take the Sam Huard type.

Lanning is obviously not the guy and that program is all about bling and bags. They all want to win sure but it’s all about the benjimans.

As far as I’m concerned college football is the G league. And since Oregon lost the season is over and as a diehard dawg fan and alum since the Owen’s era I’m officially out following the sport or investing my emotions, energy and time. Seems my only remaining joy is “beat Oregon, nothing else matters”

I attempted to login to my account during the game a few times without luck while enjoying the plundering last night and rather than reset my password I made my first and last alt. It’s been fun, especially November 5 2024! When my only real enjoyment watching what has become a pay for play sport was the OSU and Indiana plundering its Tim to Bow out of my once favorite sport!

Thanks Stalin and all the fags that don’t hate America! @graveyardDEADdawg And that giant pussy @AOG can finally enjoy sucking his thumb while curled up in his rainbow warrior blanket and safe space.

How many games has Lanning coached at Oregon where he was actually the underdog going into the game?
Last night, the first game at Georgia, maybe the DeBoer game at UW. Can't remember on the Pedo State game.

He's James Franklin until he's not
I respect Lanning a lot, but this is a fair statement

As Wolly said, appreciate you sticking around.

I can't remember, was Oregon the underdog in the Pac-12 championship game in 2023?
No. Oregon was 7 point favorites in the Pac championship. They were also favored slightly in both games against tOSU

Not sure if being sarcastic, but Oregon was a crazy 9.5 pt favorite in the 2023 CCG, according to FanDuel.

FanDuel champions forever!!

Ah, I was had in my mind that UW was favored since they had one the regular season match-up. But thinking back, that was at home so it probably should have been a pick 'em game. 9.5 points is pretty wild.

You make some fair points. Part of their problem may be that most of their players do not come from the PNW or even the West Coast. Dante Moore is from Illinois, most of their RBs are from back East, I think McClellan their WR is from the SE, D. Moore is from Florida, some of their guys on D are from the Midwest or back East. Is Bryce B., their LB, the only starter from the State of Oregon?

Now don't twist, I'm not saying it is THE reason for the plungerings lately but it has to be one of the reasons.

In this new ERA, I'm glad that this Husky staff is valuing PNW recruits and putting a fence around WA State. These are not 5 to 10 year NFL vets, they are 18-23 year old young men have zero experience in the real world. Growing up with an attachment to the local school means something.

IIRC correctly, Oregon fans were acting like they won the game in Seattle or "should have" (whatever that means... there is a scoreboard for a reason).

The line for P12 title game was so odd to me.
It honestly felt media narrative driven after retconning all the ways OR "should" have won in Seattle.

It's like everyone forgot UW was up 10 in the 2nd half at one point. (I think it was 10? before the excellent punch back from Nix & co)

I guess I'm not suprised given the Pates, Canzanos & Wilners out there (among others).
The branding is excellent and draws lots of attention, no question about it.

Ah yes, that's what it was. I probably have killed too many brains cells since then and it's all coming back to me now.

I wonder if Phil Knight has Pate, Canzano, and Wilner on the payroll some how or why they are male cheerleaders for him.

Going back to the line, it makes me want to keep an eye out for arbitrage opportunities next year. I didn't get around to betting on last night's game but thought the line was awfully low as I thought Indiana would win by 10-13.

It wasn't crazy for Oregon to be favored in the 2023 P12CG. They lost by 3 in Seattle and were blasting teams and UW was winning games sloppy and media overvalues transitional victories or whatever you call them. Them getting up to 10.5 or whatever it was on Fanduel was an all time wild spread though and fueled by the sponsored content taker jackwipes like Pate, Klatt, On3, etc. The media loves to spot them a ton of unearned points.

I have noticed a slight shift though since last year's Ohio State beatdown and the two Indiana ones this year. The media has seemed to calm down a bit and has started to really really pump up Cig, though that's much more deserved.

Did you intentionally get the home states of almost every player you listed on purpose. Pretty funny. The identityless all star tag is pretty accurate and it seems like they might be moving away from even overrecruiting Washington players just to fuck with UW and California guys USC and instead just shotgunning national recruiting, with a focus on corrupt ass Baltimore.

They remind me more and more of Gonzaga which is a program with underdog roots that has almost no connection to where they are from who is belt to shell mediocre and shit teams but seems to struggle when they face the few teams that can match their personnel.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but Lanning is a very good coach

It's tough to say either way. He walked into a good situation and Phil Knight's money in the wild west of NIL really enhanced it. For instance:

Mario Christobal had a QB named Anthony Brown in 2021 (who?)

Then Lanning takes over in 2022 and they buy Nix from Auburn. They give him more money to stay in 2023 rather than going pro. Then in 2024, they buy Dillon Gabriel for his SIXTH college season AND buy Dante Moore from UCLA after he took his lumps as a frosh with UCLA so that they can redshirt him in preparation to be the starter in 2025.

The QB situation in a nutshell highlights what Lanning has had in the NIL era. Basically, the best resources (along with Ohio State and Texas Tech) in the entire land and a nearly 90 year old billionaire willing to do what ever it takes to buy a National Championship before he passes on.

Contrast that to, say, Cignetti, who has won everywhere he's been: IUP, Elon, James Madison, and now Indiana. He walked into a bad situation at Indiana and built them up in record time with two QBs who were not very well known and a bunch of transfers from JMU.

Bottom line, until Lanning leaves the warm embrace of Phil Knight or even goes to the NFL where everyone is operating with the same cap, I'm not sure it's reasonable to fully assess Lanning.

I am weird and maybe on the spectrum so I follow recruiting pretty hard and then retain where players are from so it was all from recall.

Needless to say, my two Dads don't let me out in public much because regular people may get uncomfortable.

@flatus, if it makes you feel any better consider Lanning has 5 losses the last 3 years and all 5 were against teams that made it to the natty.
It's more about how theyve lost then who theyve lost to.

Bad combo of bad decisions in close games (UW) and getting blown the fuck out.

Hopefully it's mental and something Lanning never overcomes.

I really enjoyed Cigarette keeping the pedal down and straight throttling them.

It's the kind of crap they've always loved doing to others so it's immensely satisfying watching them get strapped down, hands behind their back and force fed humble pie. The interspersed shots of the fans sulking in the seats was the cherry on top.

Any Duck fans here need not take my comments personally.
I'm sure the situation would be the same if reversed.
👍
