Kentrell Love (2016 CB 3*, Corona CA) Commits

Life sucks for almost everybody. You have to struggle, suffer, grind, and be miserable for years to reach your goals so you can be happy later in life. It's a process. Nobody cares about any excuses. Make a plan, stick to it, and work harder.
If you have schizo the cards are stacked way way way against you.

One dude on an internet message board says he might have schizo so now it's a fact? That's BS. Nobody knows that. Depression can cause paranoia as well as consistent weed smoking. Doesn't mean he's hearing voices. Going from 4-star high school recruit with big-name schools sucking your dick to a D1 athlete at a prestigious university back to being a nobody sitting on his mom's couch playing video games is a big drop off in life. He also has to sit and watch his former teammates in his position group getting drafted to the NFL year after year. That stark comparison between their lives and his life is a really tough pill to swallow. He's going through the struggle right now and it's depressing and stressful. I've been there. But he seems perfectly capable of working towards a goal. Most people are disadvantaged one way or another. Some more than others and that's too bad. You can either cry about it and stay in the same position in life or you can grind.

I feel bad for him.

Weed doesn’t do shit stop.

Weed is way too strong these days. I can't fuck with it anymore. The stronger the weed the stronger the paranoia for some people. Weed also causes the brain to release dopamine. That's why you feel happier, smile more, and laugh more when high. Long-term weed use causes low-dopamine release in the brain when not smoking weed. Therefore, many long-term smokers feel depressed and tired when they don't smoke and that's how weed is addicting similar to sex addiction. It's not chemically addictive itself like alcohol and other drugs, but the dopamine release it causes in the brain is addictive.

For some people with mental illness, weed is not helpful. You can't be high when you have to go to work or focus on academics and when you're not high your depression is worse. I'm not anti-weed at all but anybody who says it has no downsides is scientifically false and likely a member of the cannabis cult. I'm not sitting on a high horse. Just speaking from personal experience. Life is fucking hard, especially in this economy. Nobody gives a fuck if you have a mental illness or are going through a hard time in life. Employers don't care. You have to pick yourself up, make a plan, and grind. Those who realize that are better off.

A lot of this I can agree with

We're all dopamine junkies one way or the other. Exercise running rowing swimming whatever

In general you do have to suck it up and perform.

Some people do in fact have chemical issues in their head. They can't suck it up. If you love one of them it will drive you crazy.

Weed is fine, but the loser stoners that act like it improves everything are full of shit. I stand with Ballz on this.

It’s the cannabidiol that helps some shit. Some... as many as it helps, equally doesn’t help the same amount of people.

CBD/THC doesn’t do shit for mental illness though.

You can still tackle people on antipsychotics...

Not very well, actually. Even modern atypical antipsychotics are pretty sedating. Would definitely inhibit peak performance in a sport like football.

Yeah, I was kinda joking. Although with some atypicals nowadays I can see people being able to play a sport at a high level ...

Sedation?

I say methylphenidate!

I had a really good friend get diagnosed with schizophrenia in our early 20s and this is like deja vu but with social media. Kid needs to get some help.

Schizophrenia presents during early college years. There are differing degrees.

He has it bad. If you would like me to educate you about schizophrenia, I’m happy to.

However, that’s what he has and that’s why he’s fucked and it’s sad.

Weed and schizophrenia have absolutely nothing to do with each other. In our society, sure crazy people do more drugs... but the causal arrow is from being crazy to doing more drugs.

There is no evidence to suggest the reverse and there never has been.

Being schizo is not curable. You can sort of treat it, sort of. But mostly you’re just fucked.

It just gets worse and people don’t like to do deugs that make them comatose, for whatever reason - so it’s hard to get people to stay on their meds.

Wait, I thought we were talking about StrongBad being a fucking jackass when a kid is clearly troubled and possibly insane/suicidal. Now we're talking about my favorite plant this side of Neptune? QUIT MOVING THE GOALPOSTS.

To shine some light. My buddy was bio engineering major about to graduate from udub. He was diagnosed almost ten years ago. I've talked to him twice since his big break but talk to his mom a couple times a year. He wakes up every morning and chain smokes and drinks coke on their back porch all day long. Every fucking day. He will never have anything close to a normal existence.

Speaking is schizophrenia, did anyone live around the Greek system and know a homeless guy named Rupert? He went to Syracuse or some college in NY, wires crossed and was homeless in the Greek system from sometime in the early 90s through to today.

That narrows it down to like one of a 100 homeless guys in the U-district.
