We've gone from the manic high of 2016 where "order has been restored to the universe" ( a doog talking point since 1994) to the spectre of two straight losses and the ducks with another league title, which as you know, I value a lot. Its the only thing we can control. Win and you're the king

right now Oregon's class is pretty light aside from the two 5 stars. I wouldn't call their class as a whole anything special.

Well they are still in play for Manning, Ringo and probably Yary. Close 2 of those 3 and thats a probable top 10 class.

I'll contend until the day I die that every 2019 L save Stanford (total airball no show) fell 100% on breathtakingly terrible coaching decisions, in-game and personnel.

I'll contend that Stanford was the same problem as well. I have never in my life seen a bigger squandering of talent than this season. I'd even put the shitshow at linebacker at the feet of coaching, as it's inexcusable that, after an entire spring and fall and seven or whatever games to start the season, the staff couldn't do even one of:

• Pull the starters' heads out of their ass and teach them to be where they're supposed to be and using proper technique to make plays.
• Recognize one or more of the backups are better than the starters and act on that finding (Ulofoshio).
• Develop at least one of the freshmen into a serviceable starter by the start of the season (Tafisi, Sirmon, Hammer, Tuputala). Seems like half the teams in the conference have successfully started a freshman in the middle over the past few years, so don't tell me it's impossible.

There were five ILB on that roster going into the season rated .850 or higher, with three of them--including one of the seniors--being four stars, and it was clear to anybody paying attention that Ulofoshio was underrated (not Pup-style hindsight here; even my dumb ass was calling it prior to the season). That they couldn't put a better product on the field with that raw clay is entirely on the coaches.

Linebackers aside, there was NLF talent all over the offense, and the next two drafts will prove this out. Unless I was being wooshed, even Kirkland may be off to the draft, which makes the quality of play on that side of the ball even that much more infuriating.

You have to actively want to lose to gameplan and manage clock/playcalling as poorly as the staff did this year. And their prior strength--teaching fundamentals and details--seems to have fallen off as well, as evidenced by the best tackler on the team being a sub-190 pound true freshman corner. NOTHING that happened this season makes one goddamned bit of sense compared to what could have been predicted from roster and program maturity standpoints.

That's why I used the words "slightly better". It's not just about raw numbers which are totally open to anyone's perception since they are numbers created by so called experts. It's like Neighbor says the national narrative is that Oregon is knocking it out of the park while UW largely flies under the radar. That narrative or perception, whether true or not, has a lot of value in future recruiting. That is why I'm gonna stick with the words "slightly better".

I've seen these tweets even though I don't follow recruiting. Then I see our DAWGS look worse on the field. Fuck

@RaceBannon, that is kind of to my point. The last 3 classes (especially the last two) that have been so highly touted would be RS Soph, RE Frosh, and True Frosh. And we haven’t seen jack shit of them on the field. Then we get Bynum, Puka, and McDuffie on the field and they ball out.

Throw in this class and that’s the 4 years.

The best years of the recruiting have been these last 4 classes, but we haven’t seen them on the field.

Meanwhile Oregon’s young dudes from these classes are getting a ton of run.

That to me is just more coaching fuck ups tacked on top of the in game decisions. The older guys didn’t develop as well as in the past, and then the young thouroughbreds you brought in that are the best classes you’ve ever had are left in the stable.

Here’s to hoping Lake remedies that shit.

Lake owes nothing to nobody when it comes to playing time. I hate the concept of seniority as a business tool. The best producers play and I don't care if we hired someone last month if he has a brain he moves up.

I get the sense that you think this is a bigger deal than it really is. Let's just quit pulling each other's dicks on these marginal issues and get to the fucking heart of the matter: Washington has had all the momentum over Oregon as a program with every conceivable advantage the last several years, and despite that Oregon is, at worst, going toe to toe with Washington in recruiting. But now you want to hyper-focus on one potential narrative out of an entire sea of bullshit that gets regularly said during all recruiting processes?

Yeah there's this perception in LA right now that Nansen favors poly linebackers for playing time and heard Oregon ran with that perception and used it to close. It also doesn't help that Flowe didn't have a great relationship with Nansen but man does Oregon will saying anything to get a recruit. I guess that what makes Mario a great closer. As far as Ringo, I have no clue.

Yeah there's this perception in LA right now that Nansen favors poly linebackers for playing time and heard Oregon ran with that perception and used it to close. It also doesn't help that Flowe didn't have a great relationship with Nansen but man does Oregon will saying anything to get a recruit. I guess that what makes Mario a great closer. As far as Ringo, I have no clue.

It's fairly clear as to why the other coaches voted the way they did in the Pac 12 awards. Mario will say anything, including the race card, to pull players. It's not jealousy, it's hatred of the guy. He learned his lessons well down South.

I think it's fair to say Oregon has recruited slightly better than us in recent years. I also think it's fair to say that with all the talent in Washington in the 2021and 2022 classes, if UW doesn't have a better classes than the Ducks in those years then that would be a failure.

I thought it was pretty much neck and neck the last three years - this year included. We don't have a talent disparity with Oregon. We have poor in game coaching and no hair on our balls.

Really trying to understand where this narrative of Oregon Out recruiting UW over the last few years has come from. Because it’s been neck and neck. Oregon some higher rated kids, UW more depth in Blue Chips.

In Race's defense, you have to take context into consideration:

Against THAT backdrop, yes, Oregon has kicked Washington's ass. Said another way, what will this look like if it turns out Meat can coach and Oregon wins a little more?

The other side of that which you better believe is on the table is that there is now a role reversal. UW got recruited against Jimmy Lake possibly leaving. Now that switches to Mario and Miami/Bama.

Bama? I'm not sure I'd want someone stupid enuff to believe that, even by teen boy football standards. Miami? Eh, I joke about it, but is that really going to happen?

And that's a lot of Jimmy. I'm not sure the rest of the world was as enamored with him as this crowd has been.

We shall see what he's made of now. But I don't think this or that coach leaving is a huge recruiting issue. Maybe it is; I don't know. I just know that it's a good problem to have.

I get the sense that you think this is a bigger deal than it really is. Let's just quit pulling each other's dicks on these marginal issues and get to the fucking heart of the matter: Washington has had all the momentum over Oregon as a program with every conceivable advantage the last several years, and despite that Oregon is, at worst, going toe to toe with Washington in recruiting. But now you want to hyper-focus on one potential narrative out of an entire sea of bullshit that gets regularly said during all recruiting processes?

Ok! Sounds scary for Oregon. Bottom line is really fucking simple, yet eludes doogs: Cristobal can simply recruit like a mother fucker. Period. Everybody outside of doogville knew that before he showed up. He did it at Miami, he did it at Rutgers and he did it at Bama. But now that Oregon can't scare recruits into thinking that Washington's "meh" one-season D coordinator who had a nice run with DBs isn't leaving, it's game on! Lolz. I don't think "Jimmy's leaving" is the secret sauce, but what do I know?

Everything matters. Big or little. Mario can recruit. No doubt. The guy's willing to play any card. That's why the other conference coaches hate him. Just saying the Jimmy leaving card is out of the deck now and the race card that has been played is also gone. Neither one of us can predict the future as to the effect other than he's gonna have to work a little harder to negatively recruit UW now. I think we can probably agree on that.
