I gave up my doogman account months ago. Is that really what Kim is saying? What bridges is he talking about? Beating out the UW staff for recruits? Turning down a job offer from Woodward? If it's the former, that's his friggin job, no way is that a burned bridge. Tosh was hired on the "if you can't beat em, buy em" plan. If it's the latter, the Seahawks head coaching job is nothing to sneeze at, especially at what I recall being a five million dollar a year gig with enough service to get Mora qualified for an NFL pension. Mora could have attempted to get a bidding war going, but instead showed integrity in immediately honoring his agreement with the Seahawks, a rare move in that business. He's burned no bridges.

I can't fathom Kim's logic in making such a stupid claim. A more legitimate question is, is he really interested in packing up and heading north? I know I'm in the minority on this, but I'm not convinced he is, or at least I'm not convinced it's automatic. The emotion you hear when he talks about James comes from a deep place that has strong family elements. His family situation is not going to improve with a move, nor will his likelihood of winning big. I know from experience what will go through his mind and given what I believe his current economic situation is (good enough that money will not prove the ultimate factor) his priorities may not be what you guys want them to be. We'll see, and it may be moot. There are other candidates out there, and of course there is always the possibility Woodtardo appears once again, decides to do nothing or hires fucking Chan Gailey.

You're in the minority, but you're not alone. I think he would be a damn fool to leave UCLA for UW. After having shit expectations for a decade, UW fans would actually be tough on Mora. Plus Seattle just plain fucking sucks lifestyle wise compared to LA when you have money.

I did laugh at the thought of replacing Chan Gailey Jr. with Chan Gailey though.

But someone made the relevant poont the other day: in this case, Mora would be the financing - as in winning and putting asses in seats. But that's already happening with frat boy, and what with conference revenue sharing and other aspects of socialism that have crept into college football, there's not much more to be gained by winning more than 7 other than the collective happiness of the few remaining old school husky fans.

I honestly believe the fundamental and underlying issue is the change that has taken place in this city over the last 20 years. This town is ok with 7 wins. The people who shake foundations over this shit have either lost interest or are dying.

I think they'd be tough on Mora because he's tough. That's the issue. He's a bad fit culturally for this pussy town. But I don't think they'd be tough on him for 7 wins. Frat boy's doing just fine last I checked.

Mora's problems would stem from his occasional PR gaffs and the like, and people would probably remember his Seahawk days, when he did, like Papa, put his foot in his mouth a time or two. He's a Mora - he's going to do that again. He's going to go off on a reporter who asks the wrong question at the wrong time or who takes a call during the presser. He doesn't know how to smoothly tell someone to fuck off like 7 does. Mora actually says, "fuck off". 7 actually says, "sorry bro, I haven't really thought about that" or "sorry, man, I just covered that". Seriously, that would be the pertinent difference. Today's Seattle would freak the fuck out the first time Mora went ape shit on someone, with or without the wins.

But I can't fathom he'd be feeling pressure for 7 wins. Sark isn't.

Last year I bought a 4 Disk DVD set of Husky Football/Husky Stadium.....Mora was interviewed....you can see the look in his eyes when talking about Husky football. We can get him.

I think what Kim really means to say is that he burned a lot of bridges with Mora (implosion incoming anyday folks!) and that if Mora gets the job, he's going to be screwed in terms of access to the program.

Well, I just listened to the interview. I think saying that "this man wants the Husky job" may be a little wishful thinking on your part. Maybe he does, but what I heard is a man that clearly loves Don James and appreciates the impact James had on his life.

I also clearly heard Mora express an appreciation for a certain "blue collar" mentality of northwesterners that translates into an appreciation for defense. I really agree with that statement. As much as some people on this website like to bash Seattle-area people as soft liberals, I will assure you that I know several "liberal" sports fans that are passionate about their teams, and don't tolerate bullshit players or coaches. Regardless of whether it's the chilly weather or our lumber/outdoorsy roots, people in the Puget Sound area are tough - Democrats and Republicans.

Anyway, I just don't know if I heard enough to convince me that he wants the job...although I hope you're right.
