Joey’s B1G thoughts from week one

I just hope their players don't get hurt

Because we? may want to use them next year

If by next year Fisch is still recruiting off of WSU's roster then… WE GOT PROBLEMS
Yeah, Oklahoma is retarded for taking Mateer who broke the school record in passing yards in game 1.

Cmon Derek. If anything UW should always take a few studs from WSU. Could help UW and definitely hurts a rival

There aren't going to be any Mateers left on their roster by 2026. That program is sinking into the abyss.

WSU had some decent power conference talent last year, led by Mateer. Unless some guys come out of nowhere, their roster looks absolutely barren this year.
As many have said, it's a bad sign for Judd and the boys if we can't take care of them pretty easily this year. No matter how hawt the grease.

WSU will be on @AOG's GNAC power ratings list in about 5 years unless the next round of realignment happens and WSU talks the power-4 from the West Coast into letting them into the western division of a 24+ school B1G conference.

Wazzu is going to be just fine in the new iteration of the Pac 12, especially because buyouts and guarantees are coming soon to the NIL world.
Want to buy Mateer? Fine, but youre going to pay WSU big money to do so, and then WSU can go buy some FCS QB that is killing it.
That is the only thing that makes sense in this sport and it will happen long term.
Turning your nose at having a state D1 program be a farm team is odd. WSU always manages to turn a few unheralded recruits into NFL caliber players

Were you at all excited in the recent past when we got transfers from Sacramento State?

no, that is a bad FCS program that hasn't developed talent anywhere near the same extent WSU has.

WSU had talent because it was a Pac-12 program and the pool of guys who would sign at a program like that after not getting an offer from the LA schools, UW, etc, would produce some diamonds in the rough. Then you had instate guys who would go there after not getting offered by UW, etc. Over the years out of region schools started taking those guys more and the state produces less. Then, those guys weren't able to just transfer if they did well though.
this fucked out system of we steal their best players and they steal someone else's best players and someone steals our best players is dumb and will result in a product that's closer to the corpse that is high school football than the NFL.

I think multi year contracts with buyouts would help mitigate a lot of that. The argument was that coaches leave and go to another school immediately, why can't players? Well, yeah...but they have contracts and buyouts.

Right now it's just the wild west and the stuff you mentioned is already happening, but worse and less structured

Do transfer fees like the soccer fags. Amirite, @PurpleJ? Although that brings up the problem of where that money comes from and who is or isn’t allowed to pay it.

I know you are joking but GNAC is defunct!

We? are now in Lone Star Conference ranked in Top 25 pole. Placement in the D2 poll is about like FBS since about the same number of teams honorifically. Central is playing the last FCS team or only that the Huskys lost to this Saturday. In Missoula.
