Yep, he's only 25 so I have hope for him.
I agree he was in no way ready for the NFL, but I thought he more left because he was gonna have to basically sit out a year in the covid year and then come back for a whole next season or he could just go to the NFL based on his measurable. I think it kind of worked out ideally for him because I think more tape in college would show he was limited as a player but just going to the combine and stuff he really impressed in the underwear Olympics shit and got himself taken in the first round.
He probably made the right decision, but still.
Without Covid, the 2020 team with Levi and Tryon would have maybe gotten Jimmy a contract extension.
Damn, I thought Levi left after 2019. Him, Tryon and ZTF playing the way he did the Covid year would have been a great front. Eason and Ahmed shouldn't have left after 2019, but they ended working out right since the 2020 college season essentially got cancelled.

Given the information we had from that season, remembering that the other North teams were just a giant jumble of okay teams: Oregon, Beavlet, and Stanford, with Tryong and Levi and the DB's we had, the defense would have been as loaded and more talented than 2018 and that was by design by Petersen. One down year was all he was going to have under normal circumstances, and even with Jimmy UW would have rolled the conference that year. Even with Morris who looked pretty good when he had Nacua and all the talented frosh receivers.
I just don't know if I see Tryon developing the way Latu or Trice did.I think his NFL career has shown he just doesn't have whatever it is that separates guys who have raw skills but not much else, but who knows.
I don't think it's dooging to say UW could have won the Pac-12 in 2020 in a regular season without COVID. The offense was going to be a major question mark though. I think a lot thought Kevin Thomson was going to be the starting QB if he didn't get hurt. Fuck Jimmy for not bringing someone better in the portal.

Tryon is a talented guy who doesn’t have great football instincts. He was a first round pick so I don’t see the argument that it was a bad decision. It is what it is.
