Here is the thing- football is a game wherein a small number of plays have an outsized effect on the outcome. You can't look only at the plays that went against you because, unless you were extraordinarily unlucky, a similar number of plays went in your favor.
What about Cal having a chance to win the game at end of regulation? What about Cal fumbling at goal line?
What about Oregon State missing a short field goal? What about Oregon State DB going for big hit on Kamari instead of just wrapping him up short of first down?
I'm sure there were a number of others....I wasn't watching that closely.

And his teams also had a propensity for getting boatraced right out of the gate by good teams...which made his statements even more ludicrous. Its the philosophy of counting any close game as a win.
Nah it actually increases the chances some key pieces stay out of the portal. Obviously firing Lake is the superior move but that isn’t happening mid season. Canning Donovan now could do some good.Firing Donovan accomplishes nothing.

I assume the one game he's talking about is Michigan and he considers that game "in doubt in the 4th quarter". Are you fucking kidding me?
They were down 2-3 scores for most of the fourth quarter with an offense that could barely function. There was 0 chance they were going to score enough to catch up let alone stop Michigan. If he truly believes they were truly in it during the 4th quarter then what is the bar for a situation that is not in doubt?

Caple made a point in one of his weekend articles and it’s spot on referencing the absurdity in talking about P12 parity for close games being like the NFL
The thing with college football is that the lack of parity is actually the biggest problem with the sport … in its current form you can out resource and drive massive talent gaps in most of your games. The reason Oregon State rushes the field after beating Washington is because the average Beav understands that they are starting probably close to 2 TDs behind Washington on average every single time they take the field … it’s why beating UW is such a big deal
The fact that Jimmy doesn’t get this and doesn’t understand that his approach to the game doesn’t close the gap against teams with comparable or better talent (see Michigan) but in fact tends to create close contests with teams that UW should simply win because of its built in advantages (Montana, Cal, Oregon St) is as damning of his ability to ever be the guy than any stat, comment, etc that you can point to.
Simply put his DNA to how football should be played doesn’t hunt in college football … and one’s DNA doesn’t change easily if ever. If he wants to go be David Shaw’s DC it probably works. If he wants to go back to the NFL that hunts. But it doesn’t in major college football …

Jimmy is a good/great DB coach that got lucky Kwat was willing to be his training wheels for so long and then lucked into a HC position when Peterson quit.
Makes sense why he seems so lazy (strength/conditioning, game planning, coaching hires, recruiting), he thinks success or failure sits on a knife edge made out of luck.
He is too fucking stupid and arrogant to understand that great success is built on a lot of small success. He thinks its just a few key things that did or didn't go his way.

He said this team should be competing for Pac-12 championships every year. We need a miracle to go bowling this year, and next year looks even worse.
I've never been more pissed at a Husky coach than I am at Jimmy Lake. FTG.
