Jedd and Michigan

I think Jedd would more than likely take the Michigan job if offered. However there are two reasons I think it wouldn’t be a slam dunk for him.
  1. If his goal is to really make it back to the NFL, where is that accomplished faster? At Michigan which will likely be a complete mess in light of all the AD dysfunction, or at Washington which might be an CFP team next year? Plus he’d get more credit for making the CFP out of Washington even if that’s unfair.
  2. Michigan seems married to Bryce underwood, does Jedd really abandon Demond? Does Michigan let Jedd kick underwood to the curb? Might be an underrated hangup.

dude might have left if offered the ucla job. I don't think he is thinking that hard.
we don’t know that. The only “reporting” that ever actually suggested it was almost certainly sourced by the two Arizona 247 retards

The dramatic curiosity of Jedd having to tell his daughters he’s going to coach even further away from them has me intrigued

People really overcomplicate this stuff. Coaches at this level are insanely driven narcissists. Their DNA is constantly moving from spot to spot to “move up.” Jedd personifies this more than most. Sure there are some outliers (Dillingham appears to be one), but they are the exception that proves the rule.

Michigan is in another stratosphere for these clout chasers when compared to UW. (Although it is to UW’s credit that we only lose coaches to legit top-5 jobs like USC and Alabama).
If Jedd gets the call, he’s gone. He likely thought he’d need a breakout year next year to even sniff a job like Michigan. If it comes early, all the better. If they tell him to leave Demond behind, he will do so in a heartbeat.
Now, it’s still unclear to me why Michigan would want to hire him??

I would tend to agree with you now that Ellison is more involved there but it still doesn't change that Michigan is a dumpster right now. I think they have an interim President and an AD who probably should be shit canned in the next week or two, depending on how quickly the law firm can conduct its investigation. When does the dust settle there?

Dearborn is really beautiful this time of year. They will love it.

I don't think UM will offer Jedd. They will want a proven commodity = NFL.

Next year if they give Jedd an extension, they need to put a $30-40 million buyout the entire length of his contract. Also, charge him $500K for every player that transfers with him to his new program. Jedd will probably leave after Demond's final season.

I have no idea about Jedd or what he wants to do and what, if any, influence his wife's weather preferences have in the calculus. But I'm confident in saying his decision to stay or go has little or nothing to do with the player who has everything you look for in a QB.
I personally would rather coach here than Michigan because the PNW is better than the upper midwest by almost any conceivable measure. I also find the University of Washington and the area around it to be a much more pleasant environment than Ann Arbor and Michigan, which other than the Law Quad has a very overrated campus IMO.
There is this lore around Seattle about all things U Michigan, and while it is indisputably one of the three finest public institutions academically, I just don't get the overall obsession. Plus, you have to play Buck regular season every year and your ass will be on the line over that game regardless of what else you do. I go back to the Dutchman and Bama - you can coach here for years at a 9-3 / 10-2 clip and easily survive several 8-4 or worse campaigns. This site's existence is a testament to that.
Yeah, they have a big stadium. So what? Other than Harbaugh catching lightening in a bottle with his 2023 running game I just have never had a ton of respect for them, and frankly we? should have beaten them. Nobody is going to talk about that Michigan team in the same breath as '95 Husker or the like. Of course, I'm old and grew up watching the old Pac 10 whip up on the Big 10 in the Rose and witnessed a good chunk of Schembechler's abysmal record in the the Grandaddy. So, I'm biased.

The Michigan situation is a potential nightmare. The ADept may be investigated. Why would anyone want that potential shit show?
