James Smith, 2020 3* DB, Bellflower (Bosco), CA (COMMITTED)

I'll stand by Smith, he's got elite traits. I wish Ballz was here to die on this hill with me

Also I noticed this today, I don't know what good jump numbers are but these seem goodhttps://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/Athlete.aspx?AID=11245536https://twitter.com/JamesSmith_4/status/1114648061475581952?s=20

I’ve decided I’m with you. He has the right type of frame and the right type of athleticism.

He started the year well but lost his spot. My guess is he just needs to learn the right technique. All the measurables but lacking the skill.

He’s a guy Lake identified relatively early, and Oregon wanted as well. He’s definitely not a plug and play guy like McDuffie or Byron.

But not every player you get needs to be. Some can be guys with high end measurables that you hope to teach and he gets it and by his junior year he starts showing up on the field.

Jordan Miller type

It seemed like we were hearing amazing things about Miller for years before I ever saw him play. I think he just kept getting dinged up and missing time, and I missed the snaps he was in for.

I guess I point this out partly because Miller would have been so much better off if he had come in with the depth the way it is now as opposed to when he started out. The dings from being forced into action as a stick figure accumulated on him. He was good but didn't reach the potential he came in with.

Agreed

Kid definitely has the build of a stud. Hopefully he can.put it all together

Yep. Pretty easy to see why our coaches like Smith and Jackson. It’s not what they are right now but what they could become with a year or two of development.

While Smith took huge steps in his development at Bosco, Lockett knows he’s only scratched the surface of his potential. As Smith prepares to continue his career at UW, Lockett looking forward to seeing what Lake and Harris can unseal.

“His ceiling is so high,” Lockett said. “Out of all the corners I coached at Bosco, I think he’s got the biggest ceiling out of all of them because he’s got the size and he’s barely just now figuring out this is what I can be.”

Extremely high praise

Also, these kids probably realize that too and won’t have eyes on the portal when the aren’t getting playing time in the first couple of seasons.

Kev King/Jordan Miller turned into amazing players when they came in as projects and put in the time. Let’s hope

Jordan should have been redshirted

Finishes 1016 on 247 and 86th at CB.

So higher overall than Carson Bruener who was 53rd at ILB. I wonder if CB gets a similar overrated bump to WR in these rankings?
