1) Athletically similar to Miles, which he'll need to be with the UW O line.

3) Had a year to learn the offense and tighten any issues with his throwing
4) Has solid arm strength
5) Is not a dude-brah recruit and is untainted by the Sark QB "system"

The stats don't ensure success, but if a QB only completing 50% of your passes in high school, accuracy probably isn't a strength.

We know Browning will be accurate. He likely has the mental capacity to play QB. The questions with him are size and arm strength related and if he has the raw talent to really make a mark in the PAC 12.

Everyone talks about how he is Petersen's guy, but how likely is it that Petersen would have chose him the previous Spring? It seems to be basically a shotgun marriage. KJCS was looking for a place to play after Franklin left Vandy and Petersen needed a QB after Greene bolted to USC.

I think it's Miles or Browning. KJCS factors in if the staff wants to redshirt Browning, but Charles and others don't think that happens. We will get a slightly better idea in the Spring.

FWIW, KJCS committed to Vanderbilt in March and shut down his recruiting early on. It wasn't until Franklin jumped to Penn State that KJCS wanted to look around, and the only major school that needed a QB on the west coast was UW.

Additionally, we've heard praises from the coaching staff of how KJCS has played, even earning offensive scout team player of the year (which I take with a grain of salt, but hey, it's something to point to).

Keith Price set every pass efficiency record there was at UW. This year USC's QB had something like 38 TD's against 5 INT's.

I can see how Sark is a bad QB coach.

Most of the time you see a QB struggling, he isn't the only one at fault. Coordinators are often at fault but rarely get the blame. Maybe because we don't see them out there physically pulling the trigger.

Of all the coaches on our staff, Smith is the one without a track record of some kind of success at a high level. It's hard to say how much of the blame falls on his lap, but he also hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt yet. Particularly when you consider that there are some simple examples of where we could make things a little easier (i.e. run the ball downhill a lot more than asking our relatively disappointing OL to be athletic).

That being said, I also can't imagine that it's easy calling plays when you have a QB that really struggles to throw the ball in any kind of tight window, doesn't have a strong arm to the point that we make a QB switch to throw hail mary's from the 40 yard line, is a so-so runner but seemingly lacks the understanding of when to get his nose dirty to pick up a key extra yards to get a first down, and in general, shows some very poor game awareness and IQ at the QB position.

The one play last night that told me that Miles CANNOT be the QB next year was the 4th and 2 play call where we ran the option and it got stopped for a 5 yard loss. If you look at the defensive alignment on the play, Oklahoma St had all 11 guys within 5 yards of the line.

@CharlesMincy‌ in your experience, to have your entire secondary within 5 yards of the line, I'd imagine that the only times that that happened were in very unique circumstances combined with situations where you didn't respect the opposing QB to beat you.

Have you been watching? Price was very good in season one then regressed horribly. Locker flatlined for two seasons. Sark had Lindquist and Miles for two seasons and Troy Williams for one. Did you watch them play? Did you see any signs if development among these three very highly rated QB prospects? Anything there telling you that high level coaching took place?

I believe he didn't have a Pac12 offer because his brother was the starter at Vandy and he committed there very early in the process and shut it down. Then when Franklin left he had to scramble. UCLA was probably going to offer (or possibly even did offer I cant recall), but took some guy from Texas instead. From what I remember KJCS sounds a lot like the swede. Big strong arm, very good athlete for the position...but a ways away from being starter quality.

Jalen Greene sucks, not to be cliche, but he's a WR. KJCS was the better prospect. There were two QBs that were obviously better prospects (Allen from Az that started at A&M and Kayaa from LA that started at Miami) after that I bet KJCS was as good or better than anyone else out west.

Total QBR is better. It factors in running, opponent, and doesn't reward a 5 yard completion on 3rd and 8.
