The absurd number of Duck fans? everywhere with their claim "Hoke is a great defensive coordinator, solid hire!" With a very few number of people like me replying "He hasn't called a defense since he was a high school coach in 1982."

Every single one of us have been right since the start. The guys in Oregon camp trying to find positives, but the reality is if your head coach sucks your program sucks.

Slingblade is moving around bad coaches, snagging free agents to replace the talent Chip left him that he hasn't been able to replace recruiting, and trying to be smart but he's just a shitty coach. Hard work doesn't matter if it's towards nothing.

I'm hearing Chip's coming back and Slingblade's going back to OC. It's been the agreement from the beginning. He only left so the NCAA would go easy on the Ducks, but his heart's been in Oregon this whole tim. Just what I'm hearing.

Slingblade delivered Mariota by discovering him when he was just a back up in pee wee, gave him a full ride on the spot.

The guy has an eye for talent.

Just give him some more time to get his own guys in there.

The guy was a head coach for twelve years. Calling a defense is not some magical ability only acquired through experience as a coordinator. He's been on the defensive side of the ball his whole life including for some very good teams. He knows the basic procedures of making defensive calls. This isn't some up-jumped lifelong position coach with no other experience.

The real concerns are:

1. He sucked as a head coach at Michigan and wasn't great at his previous stops. He might be a poor leader.
2. He is old and kind of washed up. Does he have any innovative ideas or is he stuck in the 90s?
3. Do his philosophies clash with the rest of the staff?
