I’ve already heard from casual doog coworkers that last season doesn’t count for anything because Covid.
 
Anything about how players like JTT and Emeka were just not OKG and Jimmy knew he'd find some 2 star kids that will be better?

    You could even hire FCS and lower head coaches for that kind of money.

  • My point being that if we hired Jon Don to save money, we could have paid him $400,000 or whatever. I don't think we were trying to save money, I think it was the best Jimmy could do.

  • Okay gotcha. We definitely could have gotten him for $400-500k but even Lake and Cohen knew that would bring even more criticism to a hire that was already very bad on paper. And considering I think it’s a real possibility that was an agent hire (wish someone in the media asked about this), there was no way the guy setting up the deal wasn’t going to get the most money he could from it.

    Side note that has very little to nothing to do with your post, I never really cared for the talk about coaches salaries. They get paid what they get paid. When Pete was going 8-5 in 2019 posters here would bring up that we were paying him 3.5 mil or whatever to go 4-5 in the PAC 12. It would have been just as bad if he was getting paid $100,000. Except for talk about buyouts, their salaries aren’t important and are irrelevant. The expectations at UW are to win PAC 12 titles often and compete for them every single year.

You could see a moment late in the Michigan game when Morris came off the field after another failed series and Donavan was trying to give him a "hang in there, we'll get em next time" speech. The words were empty to Morris, and you could see the look on Donovan's face that he knew he had failed Morris and the offense and he felt terrible and overwhelmed by it. So yes, he fully realizes the pickle he's in. Everyone feel free to accuse me of being Baseman and reading Pete's lips from 70 yards away at the Rose Bowl, but that was my read on what I saw on the TV.
