Israeli police block Cardinal from entering church on Palm Sunday

This claim is misleading. There’s no credible evidence that Pierbattista Pizzaballa was uniquely or historically “barred” from Church of the Holy Sepulchre for the first time in centuries.

Access to the Old City is regularly restricted during major holidays due to security concerns, affecting clergy and worshippers alike. These are crowd-control measures, not a targeted ban on church leadership.

Also, the “first time in centuries” line is a red flag—there have been multiple historical disruptions, access limits, and even conflicts involving this site.

Bottom line:

This is a sensationalized version of routine security restrictions, not some unprecedented religious crackdown.
